Cheap Tuesdays - Homemade Iceblocks

I'm fairly confident our kids are the sweatiest ever so having iceblocks and other frozen treats in the freezer, especially during the warmer months, is essential in our house. Because high sugar and my children don't get along at all, we try to make our own as much as we can (and it is still cheaper). I often make iceblocks out of the leftover juice from tinned fruit (yesterday I made some mini pizzas for the kids lunches so today's iceblocks are pineapple juice with a couple of pieces of leftover tinned pineapple thrown in too) and add a bit of water to make it stretch to fill our eight iceblock moulds.

However, the best hot day treats are frozen fruit because they are tasty and still have high nutritional value (whereas the juice, even if it is real juice, is pretty much sugar because all the best bits have been strained out). Bananas, grapes, mangos and berries are the boys favourites frozen so we stock up when they are in season and cheap and put then in the freezer (FYI berries are often cheaper to buy commercially frozen).

Now I'm craving frozen cherries!
